At the Friends of the Morrow County Dog Shelter, we are passionate about helping the dogs in our community. However, there’s often some confusion about what, exactly, our role entails. We want to take a moment to clarify who we are and what we do so that you can better understand how we work to support the Morrow County Dog Shelter.
Volunteers don’t just do the work—they make a difference. Their selfless acts create ripples of kindness that transform communities and change lives.

Who Are We?
The Friends of the Morrow County Dog Shelter is a volunteer-led organization dedicated to raising funds and fostering community engagement to benefit the dogs cared for by the Morrow County Dog Shelter. We are not employees of the shelter, and we do not directly handle the day-to-day operations of the shelter. Instead, we’re the fundraising arm of the shelter, working behind the scenes to ensure the dogs have the resources they need for a better quality of life.
What We Don’t Do:
It’s important to note that while we are deeply committed to the welfare of dogs in our community, there are certain things we don’t do:
- We do not house dogs. The shelter itself handles all animal housing and care.
- We do not handle inquiries about adoptions or stray dogs. If you’re looking to adopt or need to report a stray dog, please contact the Morrow County Dog Shelter directly.
- We are not affiliated with the Morrow County Humane Society. The Humane Society, who helps dogs and cats in Morrow County, is a separate volunteer organization unrelated to the Morrow County Dog Shelter or the Friends of the Morrow County Dog Shelter.
What We Do:
Our primary focus is on fundraising and community engagement. Through various events, campaigns, and initiatives, we raise money to support the shelter’s needs. This might include funding for medical care, food, bedding, or improvements to the shelter’s facilities. Our efforts help bridge the gap between the shelter’s budget and the resources needed to provide the best possible care for the dogs.
How You Can Help:
There are many ways to get involved with the Friends of the Morrow County Dog Shelter:
- Attend our fundraising events.
- Make a donation to support our efforts.
- Volunteer to help with events or campaigns.
- Volunteer to help in-person at the shelter.
- Spread the word about our mission and the needs of the shelter in your community.
Working Together for a Greater Cause
By focusing on fundraising and community engagement, we’re able to amplify the impact of the Morrow County Dog Shelter and help ensure that the dogs in their care have the support they need. When we all work together, we can make a real difference in the lives of these animals.
